Trivia
The BMW M2 was created to revive BMW’s classic formula: a compact sports car, rear-wheel drive, and inline six-cylinder engine, with full focus on driving dynamics. Launched in 2015, it became the spiritual successor to the BMW 1 Series M Coupé. In 2018, it evolved into the M2 Competition with the S55 engine from the BMW M3 and BMW M4, culminating in the M2 CS — the lightest and most track-focused version of the first generation. The second generation (G87) arrived in 2023, more powerful and larger. In 2024, BMW unveiled the new M2 CS globally, cementing it as the pinnacle of the M2 lineup and setting a lap record at the Nürburgring Nordschleife for compact BMW M cars.
